Forskolin comes from the root of the herb Coleus forskohlii and has been used for years in Ayurvedic traditions. Forskolin activates an important enzyme called adenylate cyclase and increases the molecule cyclic AMP in tissue. These are both necessary for numerous functions in the human body. Forskolin can be beneficial for supporting the contraction of muscles of the heart and relaxation of smooth muscles, which elicits favorable effects on blood flow, healthy blood pressure, and normal platelet function.
